METHANOL

Alcohol, a colourless liquid, widely used in the chemical industry as a solvent, fuel or gasoline additive, intermediate product, laboratory reagent. Used in the pharmaceutical industry, the dye industry, plastics, synthetic fibres, in the production of explosives, methyl esters, formaldehyde, formic acid, MTBE. Methanol is also used in drilling in oil fields and in cleaning fluids and de-icing agents.
